CACE Training Series: Module 1 — Understanding Article 6 of the Paris Agreement
This training video offers a comprehensive introduction to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, a crucial mechanism for facilitating international cooperation in the fight against climate change. Through detailed explanations and visual aids, viewers will develop a foundational understanding of market-based mechanisms, the importance of authorization processes, and the reporting of Mitigation Outcomes.
Designed for professionals in the public and private sectors, as well as academia and individuals, this module is the first in a series of five videos aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to actively engage in global climate action. Upcoming modules will explore the nuances of participation requirements, institutional setups, authorizations, issuance and transfer procedures, as well as mitigation activity eligibility. Ultimately, this series will empower stakeholders to make informed decisions and contribute effectively to climate mitigation efforts.
The Paris Agreement is a cornerstone of global climate action and Article 6 is a critical component for the success of this treaty. However, it isn't uncommon to feel distant from these conversations and negotiations between countries as regular citizens. In this webinar, we explore how Article 6 will—directly or indirectly—impact our day-to-day lives and what opportunities we can foster from it. To help us fully understand this topic, we're joined by guest speaker Lev Gantly. Lev is a partner at Phillip Lee LLP specializing in domestic and international climate law, with a deep understanding of frameworks within the verified carbon market as well as the evolving international laws under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
